Find your magic at Cocles Limon Beach photo blog.
Those looking for tranquility can find it in a little beach town on the Caribbean side of Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica. This beach is best for surfing rather than swimming as the currents are strong but that does not interfere with using the beach for your yoga routines, walking under beautiful sunsets or simple feeling the warm sand under your feet. It has only one grocery store with a good wine selection, special imports and fresh produce. There is also a few restaurants, bars and a yoga studio.
In Cocles its where many expat events are held. There is a beachfront bar that host a big party on Wednesday night and some smaller events throughout the week, otherwise the neighborhood is quiet.
This Neighborhood is popular with long-term vacationers and families. The surrounding beaches are calm for swimming and snorkeling, If you’re willing to explore and push beyond your boundaries you can rent a bike at any of the quiet Caribbean villages and head to the next beach not far from one another.
Walking the beach is my favorite way to get around, unfortunately it is not safe to walk or ride your bicycle after dark outside of town.
Rather than tell you where to find the magic, I’d rather encourage you to find it yourself. Walk every inch of sand from playa to playa and most definitely you’ll find it.
You can also explore a nearby wildlife refuge with stunning rain forest animals without spending tons of money and at the same time help the local economy.
On weekdays many beaches outside of town remain completely deserted.
