Ten travel tips that can help you!. #2
In case you missed my “Travel tips that can help you #1,. I added this link for you just in case”. Traveling its an art, an appealing experience. It’s an ideal way to leave your current life behind to pursue a more relaxing or adventurous break, or to live in and explore a new place. The experience of travel is commonly about venturing out there and bringing back experiences to share.
There is this kind of role behind traveling that involves recording the experiences that are different from your common, home life. All those traveling however assumed they would make it to the next day without a hitch, but you got to be aware of your surroundings when traveling overseas, there is this whole dark world of scammers waiting for you to play a stupid tourist,. so the best thing is not to look like one.
1. If you don’t speak the local language of the place you are heading, then at least learn the following phrases: Please. Thank you. I’m sorry. Do you have those shoes in a size 10? or.. two cold beer please!
2. Pack those god-awful tennis shoes you only wear “jogging” (a.k.a., “to the store to buy ice cream”) At some point during your trip, you won’t care what you look like. You will only care about being comfortable. For me, that point is “Day 2.”
3. Do not go into a McDonald’s. I don’t care if you are scared and starving – McNuggets are NEVER a viable option and It’ll co$$t you dearly. If you need fast food, at least hit up a regional chain.
4. If you are at an aquarium or a planetarium, feel free to skip the IMAX movie. They cost a bundle, and are the same EVERYWHERE including back home..
5. Tip your hotel housekeeping staff. they are a good source of finding out where the locals eat and not get mugged. (A good rule is to leave them about $2 U.S./day.) While you can leave it every day on the pillow, most staff is instructed not to move money or personal items, so they might not pick it up. If this is the case, just leave it in a prominent spot when you check out.
6. Never carry your wallet in your back pocket, and never carry your purse on just your shoulder. TRUST ME I’ve seen people overseas crying on the sidewalk many, many times.
7. Take notes. As much as you believe the contrary, once you get home you will not remember your tour guide’s name, or the artist whose worked you loved so much, or even the city where you stayed. Write it down.
8. If you have an inkling feeling that you should be taking photos of something, TAKE THEM. If you have an inkling feeling that you should not be taking photos of something, DON’T TAKE THEM. I guy in Slovenia was so madyelling god knows what in Slovinian to a bunch tourist taking pictures of a church door that we all split like mad ants. (maybe its was sacred or something).
10. If you hate wearing something at home, you will hate wearing it even more on a trip.
It will be another year before I have anything useful to share. But what about you? Surely you must have some useful nugget of travel wisdom you’ve been dying to share. If so, leave your sage advice in the comments for all to see..
